Question
Methylamine is more basic than aniline. Give reason.

Answer

In case of aniline, ione pair in nitrogen atom participate with pi electron in benzene. The electron density in nitrogen become less and aniline act as a less base. In case of methyl amine, the resonance is not possible and $CH _3$ group has $a + I$ effect, which increases the electron density in nitrogen. That's why methyl amine react as a strong base.
