The poem collected in Vedas are known as mantras. These mantras are not creation of any particular person rather ancient rishis created them with the help of their conscience.
मननं मन्त्रः इति मन्त्रः Mantra means deep thinking. Mantra means a statement with spiritual power. Mantra means a letter or a group of letters or a statement and by chanting it the desired thing can be obtained. Mantra means "thought". In the Vedic mantras different type of thoughts are presented in the form of prayer, rites or prohibitions or certain elements.
