The Sun Temple of Modhera is located at Modhera of Mehsana district in North Gujarat It was built in $1026\ AD$ during the reign of King Bhimdev-I of the Solanki era. The entrance of the temple was in the East. It was designed in such a way that the first rays of the Sun entered to Sanctum at the far end of the temple and fell on the gem in the centre of crown of God Sun's idol - and whole temple is illuminated by a beam of light. As a result, whole atmosphere seems to be filled with divinity.
