\(PCC\) oxidizes primary alcohols to aldehydes and secondary alcohols to ketones. In the above reaction, \(-OCOCH_3\) group is hydrolyzed to secondary alcohol which is then oxidised (with \(PCC\)) to ketone \([Figure 1] \) \(\xrightarrow[{CHC{l_3}}]{{\mathop {\left( {Pyridinium\,chlorochromate} \right)}\limits^{PCC} }}\) \([Figure\,2]\)
