Preamble is the opening statement of the Indian Constitution, described as the key to the Indian Constitution.
→ The ideals espoused by the Indian people, their aspirations and their noble sentiments are expressed in the Preamble.
→ It proclaims sovereignty of the people and resolves to establish a democratic socialist secular republic.
→ The ideals of justice, equality, liberty, fraternity, dignity of individual and unity and integrity of the nation are expressed in the Preamble.
Therefore, it is said that the Preamble is the essence (extract) of the Indian Constitution.
