When \(H\) atom is directly linked with \(N, O,\) or \(\mathrm{F}\), inter or intramolecular \(H-\) bonding is formed.

In between \(\mathrm{CH}_{3} \mathrm{OH}\) molecules, intermolecular \(H-\)bonding exists.

Hence, it is the intermolecular \(\mathrm{H}\) - bonding that must be overcome in converting liquid \(\mathrm{CH}_{3} \mathrm{OH}\) to gas.
