पुस्तकस्य आत्मवृत्तान्तः' is an autobiography of a book. In this eassay, puranic incidents are also mentioned in order to preach children. The essay includes three puranic incidents, two from Mahabharata and one from Ramayana.
Based on the epic of Ramayana, there is an incident of Shravana who carries his parents on his Shoulder to pilgrimage. In the similar manner, the children keep their books in their school bag with great affection and carry them to school. The trip to school is a pleasant experience for books.
There is another puranic incident from Mahabharata. Duryodhana keeps the Pandava deprived of their kingdom. For that, he engages in conspiracy. Thus, in this essay, Duryodhana is mentioned as a miser.Similarly when a child does not lend his book to the other child who has no books, then such a child is considered miser. Such miser child keeps the other child deprived of learning.
The third puranic incident is also from Mahabharata. This incident is about Karna, known for his benevolent nature. He gave his Kavacha and Kundal to Lord Indra. Who came to Karna disguised as a brahmin. Indra wanted his son Arjuna to be victorious in the battle. In this lesson, by giving this example, the importance of charity has been explained.
