कङ्कणस्य तु लोभेन' composed by Vishnu sharma has been taken from the Mitralabh chapter of Hitopdesh. In this animal story, the human being is indirectly advised to keep away from greed. Whoever tries to trap us by temptation, we should be careful. It has been clarified by the story of a greedy traveller and old tiger. This story justifies the saying 'लोभः पापस्य कारणम्' means greed is the root of all evils.
In this story, an old tiger tries to trap his prey by offering golden bracelet. A tiger spends its whole life in hunting then how can it be trusted ? It's a matter of great surprise that a traveler even being human gets trapped due to greed and was killed and eaten away by the tiger. Thus, due to greed, the traveler endangered his own life.
