Question
Rudra Mahalaya
✓
Answer
Rudra Mahalaya is located in Siddhapur on the banks of river Saraswati in Patan district of North Gujarat.
Today it is in a state of broken, but at once time, it was the magnificent, wide and incomparable architecture of Gujarat.
Rudra Mahalaya was built by Solanki King Jai Sinh of Patan.
(Actually, Solanki King Mulraj-I started to build Rudra Mahalaya and Siddharaj Jai Sinh built and completed it.) Being a shaivite, Siddharajassociated the name of Mahalaya with Rudra.
According to some historians, the Rudra Mahalaya should have sever storeyed palace with Jharokhas; although, at present only With Jhar one storey exists. The pillars, Jharokhas, the beautifully sculpted toranas, etc. of Rudra Mahalaya give an overview of its rich architecture.
