Question
Solve $: 5x - 14 = x - (24 + 4x)$

Answer

$5x - 14 = x - (24 + 4x)$
$\Rightarrow 5x - 14 = x - 24 - 4x$
$\Rightarrow 5x + 4x - x = - 24 + 14$
$\Rightarrow 9x - x = - 10$
$\Rightarrow 8x = - 10$
$\Rightarrow x=\frac{-10}{8}$
$\Rightarrow x=-\frac{5}{4}$ or $-1 \frac{1}{4}$
