Question
State Gauss's law in electrostatics.
✓
Answer
Gauss's law: The net flux through a closed surface in free space is related to the net charge qenci that is enclosed by that surface and is given by $ \Phi=\oint \vec{E} \cdot \vec{d} s =\frac{q m }{ m } $ where $eO$ is the permittivity of free space and the electric flux $\vec{E} \cdot \vec{d} s$ is integrated over the entire area of the surface. [Note: The SI unit of electric flux is the newton metre squared per coulomb $\left( N \cdot m ^2 / C \right)$ or, equivalently, the voltmetre $V\vec{E} \cdot \overrightarrow{d \mathrm{~s}}m).$
