(1) The Governor of the State is appointed by the President. He serves as the representative of the Union Government in the State.
(2) He keeps the President informed about the state of affairs in his State in his periodical reports.
(3) He reports the breakdown of the constitutional machinery in the State and recommends the imposition of the President's rule.
(4) He looks after administration of the State when it is under the President's rule.
Thus, the Governor plays a key role between the Centre and State.
