Question
The $n^{th}$ term of an AP is $(3n + 5)$. Find its common difference.

Answer

We have:
$T_n= (3n + 5)$
Common difference $= T_2 - T_1$
$T_1= 3 \times 1 + 5 = 8$
$T_2 = 3 \times 2 + 5 = 11$
$d = 11 - 8 = 3$
Hence, the common difference is $3$.
