The resistance of the filament of an electric bulb changes with temperature. If an electric bulb rated $220\, volt$ and $100\, watt$ is connected $(220 \times 0.8)$ $volt$ sources, then the actual power would be
A$100 \times 0.8\,watt$
B$100 \times {(0.8)^2}\,watt$
CBetween $100 \times 0.8\, watt$ and $100\, watt$
DBetween $100 \times {(0.8)^2}\, watt$ and $100 \times 0.8\,watt$

DBetween $100 \times {(0.8)^2}\, watt$ and $100 \times 0.8\,watt$
d (d) ${P_1} = \frac{{{{(220)}^2}}}{{{R_1}}}$ and ${P_2} = \frac{{{{(220 \times 0.8)}^2}}}{{{R_2}}}$
$\frac{{{P_2}}}{{{P_1}}} = \frac{{{{(220 \times 0.8)}^2}}}{{{{(220)}^2}}} \times \frac{{{R_1}}}{{{R_2}}}$ $⇒$ $\frac{{{P_2}}}{{{P_1}}} = {(0.8)^2} \times \frac{{{R_1}}}{{{R_2}}}$ Here $R_2 < R_1$
(because voltage decreases from $220 V ⇒ 220 × 0.8 \,V$
It means heat produced $⇒$ decreases)
So $\frac{{{R_1}}}{{{R_2}}} > 1$ $⇒$ ${P_2} > {(0.8)^2}{P_1}$ $⇒$ ${P_2} > {(0.8)^2} \times 100\,W$
Also $\frac{{{P_2}}}{{{P_1}}} = \frac{{(220 \times 0.8){i_2}}}{{220\,{i_1}}},$ Since ${i_2} < {i_1}$ (we expect)
So $\frac{{{P_2}}}{{{P_1}}} < 0.8$ $⇒$ ${P_2} < (100 \times 0.8)$
Hence the actual power would be between $100 \times {(0.8)^2}\,W$ and $(100 × 0.8)\, W$

Five equal resistances each of resistance $R$ are connected as shown in the figure. A battery of $V\, volts$ is connected between $A$ and $B$. The current flowing in $AFCEB$ will be
The resistance in the two arms of a meter bridge are $5\,\Omega $ and $R\,\Omega $, respectively. When the resistance $R$ is shunted with an equal resistance, the new balance point is at $1.6\, l_1$. The resistance $‘R’$ is ................. $\Omega$
A potentiometer wire $AB$ having length $L$ and resistance $12\, r$ is joined to a cell $D$ of $emf$ $\varepsilon $ and internal resistance $r$. A cell $C$ having $emf$ $\varepsilon /2$ and internal resistance $3r$ is connected. The length $AJ$ at which the galvanometer as shown in figure shows no deflection is
Two wires '$A$' and '$B$' of the same material have their lengths in the ratio $1 : 2$ and radii in the ratio $2 : 1$. The two wires are connected in parallel across a battery. The ratio of the heat produced in '$A$' to the heat produced in '$B$' for the same time is
Under what condition current passing through the resistance $R$ can be increased by short circuiting the battery of emf $E_2$. The internal resistances of the two batteries are $r_1$ and $r_2$ respectively.
A $10\, m$ long wire of $20\,\Omega$ resistance is connected with a battery of $3\, volt$ $e.m.f.$ (negligible internal resistance) and a $10 \,\Omega$ resistance is joined to it is series. Potential gradient along wire in volt per meter is
A constant voltage is applied between the two ends of a metallic wire. If both the length and the radius of the wire are doubled, the rate of heat developed in the wire
In a potentiometer arrangement, a cell of $emf$ $1.25\,V$ gives a balance point at $35.0\,cm$ length of the wire. If the cell is replaced by another cell and the balance point shifts to $63.0\,cm,$ the $emf$ of the second cell ............... $V$
