O god! May my heart be determined for well-being.
Explanation: This statement has been taken from mantra-6 in chapter 34 of Yajur Veda. The feeling of determination is expressed in this mantra. In this mantra, it is said that as a charioteer controls horse with the help of reins, in the similar manner an unstable and speedy heart which is established in the human body should be controlled. Such a mind should be determined for the well-being.
A human heart is regarded as a sense organ. Very often a human being gets confused regarding what to do and what not to do under the influence of five senses of knowledge, five senses of action and his own heart. In such circumstances, it is rightly said that "मनः एव मनुष्याणां कारणं बन्ध मोक्षयोः" means the human heart is the cause of bondage and saluation. Therefore choice-making or option indicates negativity while determination indicates positive approach.
Thus, determination has two ways Shiv and Ashiv. Shiv means benevolence and Ashiv means. non-benevolence. Here it is desired that the way to determination always remains to be of Shiv and to be of benevolence. The deeds with Shiv determination help to reap the fruits of righteousness while Ashiv-deeds become act of sin.
Thus, this hymn contains the prayer that person's heart always remains making Shiv determination That is why, Kabirji has rightly said,
'मन लागो मेरो यार फकीरीमें'
जो सुख पायो रामभजन में ॥
