What is a heat engine?
✓
Answer
A heat engine is a device in which a system is taken through cyclic processes that result in converting part of heat supplied by a hot reservoir into work (mechanical energy) and releasing the remaining part to a cold reservoir. At the end of every cycle involving thermodynamic changes, the system is returned to the initial state. [Note: Automobile engine is a heat engine.]
