This is mainly caused by greenhouse effect.
Global warming depends upon the amount of $CO_2$ and other greenhouse gases present in the atmosphere.
An increase in $CO_2$ concentration increases earth’s temperature by retaining more heat.
Carbon dioxide increases temperature by about $50\%, \text{CFCs}$ increase it by $20\%$ and methane increases it by $15\%$ whereas other pollutants increase it by $10\%.$
Atmospheric air pollution, industrialization and greenhouse effect cause global warming.
