The economic importance of the forests is as follows : (1) Wood is the main product of the forests. Hard wood and timber from trees like teak, saal and shisham are obtained from forests. Furniture is also made out of them.(2) From the soft wood and the pulp of deodar and chid trees sports goods, boxes to pack tea and medicine, matchsticks, paper, artificial fibre are prepared.(3) Paper, rayon and the small and big baskets, toys, mats and handicrafts are prepared from bamboo.(4) Lacquer (Sealing wax), glue, honey, medicinal plants (herbs), etc. are obtained from the forests.(5) The wood of Kher tree gives catechu,(6) Turpentine is obtained from the pulp of chid tree and medicinal oil from eucalyptus tree.(7) Sandalwood and sandalwood oil are available from sandal- trees.(8) Boats are made from the wood of sundari tree.
