Why is Quartile Deviation also known as Semi-Inter Quartile Range?

Inter-Quartile range is calculated by subtracting lower quartile $\left(Q_1\right)$ from upper quartile $\left(Q_3\right) . \therefore$ Inter-Quartile Range $=Q_3-Q_1$
Also, half of the Inter-Quartile range is called Quartile Deviation. Therefore, Quartile Deviation is known as semi-Inter Quartile range. Q.D. $=\frac{ Q _3- Q _1}{2}$
