Question
Write a short note on the question of Suez Canal.
✓
Answer
In 1956, Colonel Nisser of Egypt nationalized the Suez Canal.
As a result, the economic interests of Britain and France were jeopardized.
So these two nations invaded Egypt with the help of Israel.
Some non-aligned countries (states) in the world, such as India, passed a resolution calling for the withdrawal of foreign troops from Egypt and the establishment of an international police force for the Suez Canal.
Following the implementation of this resolution, Britain and France withdrew their troops from Egypt.
But Israel did not.
As a result, the United Nations passed a resolution calling on all nations to suspend economic and military aid to Israel, and Israel withdrew its troops.
Thus, with successful UN diplomacy, global peace was maintained and the question of the Suez Canal was resolved peacefully.
