All transactions in e-commerce are carried without direct contact.
Purchaser and seller are unknown to each other.
There can be economic loss, loss of status and loss of psychological level in online dealings.
There are three types of risk in this type of dealing.
$(1)$ Risk of Transactions $(2)$ Risk of Information, $(3)$ Risk of Intellectual property and confidential information.
Following suggestions for safety of transaction should be considered.
Risk of transaction :
Through online business sometimes purchaser complains regarding the place of delivery, weaker quality of goods, shortage in goods received etc.
On the other side seller also have the same complaints that order is not received from the purchaser, or incomplete information is given. To avoid this risk while registering customers account, his identity and address should be verified. Customers should also purchase from the website of prestigious seller.
Safety against risk of storing information:
Sometimes information showed on internet is stolen for personal selfish motive or for fun.
Sometimes it is changed too. Information is damaged through virus entered computer.
Virus is one type of computer programmer that causes obstacle in functioning of computer and brings damage to computer file or creates imitation of information.
To avoid the risk of hacking and this risk antivirus software should be used punctually.
Safety against the risk of intellectual property and risk of confidential information :
When the information presented on internet it becomes 'Public Information'.
Details like e-mail address, phone number, bank account number, pass word etc. information should be kept confidential and secret while making any dealing on-line.
Such information is likely to be misused.
Against this risk, as a measure of safety, consumer should change password periodically.
