Question 13 Marks
The relative luminosity of wavelength 600nm is 0.6. Find the radiant flux of 600nm needed to produce the same brightness sensation as produced by 120W of radiant flux at 555nm.
Answer
View full question & answer→Relative luminousity $=\frac{\text{Luminous flux of a source of given wavelength}}{\text{Luminous flux of a source of 555nm of same power }}$
Let the radiant flux needed be 'P' watt.
$\text{Ao},0.6=\frac{\text{Luminous flux of a source P watt}}{\text{685P}}$
$\therefore$ Luminous flux of the source = (685 P) × 0.6 = 120 × 685
$\Rightarrow\text{P}=\frac{120}{0.6}=200\text{W}$
