Among human qualities, fearlessness is the most important. A fearless person is the happiest person. The life of a person is meaningless who inspite of possessing huge amount of wealth and prestigious position lives with fear. In this Ved. mantra, the devotee prays to god to grant him a fearless life. Here prayer means to pray the supreme being to provide strength which has been consumed in efforts or to ask for the help from the supreme being. The devotee prays that he should be granted with the state of fearlessness from friend or enemy, from that which is known and from that which can not be seen and from day or night.
अभयं देहिदेवेशः पापात् अस्मान् निवारय।
वयं त्वां शरणं यामः रक्ष नः शरणागतः।।
