Question
Discuss the management of sprain.

Answer

There are two procedures for the treatment of sprain, i.e. PRICE and MICE. These procedures of treatment of sprains are described below.
  1. Price Procedure: The PRICE procedure should be followed for the first 24 to 48 hours after the injury, depending on the severity. PRICE stands for: protection, rest, ice, compression and elevation.
  2. Mice Procedure: Once the signs of inflammation have gone and heat and redness are reduced, the MICE procedure should be followed until the injury is healed. MICE stands for: mobilisation, ice, compression and elevation.
