Translation: Lord Shiva took a glance towards the end of all directions.
Explanation: This line has been taken from the third canto of "कुमारसम्भवम्" composed by the great poet Kalidas. In this canto, the act of 'कामदेव दहनं' has been beautifully narrated.
Then, being a celebate, Lord Shiva strongly controlled the intense desire of his sense organs and in order to know the reason about the perversion occured in his mind, he glanced towards the end of all directions. For the first time, Lord Shiva had the strange experience of pervesion which somehow he controlled.
Cupid released an unfailing arrow called 'सम्मोहनं' so pervesion occured in Lord Shiva's mind. For a moment, Lord Shiva was dominated by perversion but with his firm determination he could control it. As this kind of passion is not appropriate for a celebate like Lord Shiva, he glanced in all the directions to know the reason about it. Celebates often become introvent and minutely study the perversion occuring in their mind with self-analysis. Lord Shiva also attempted to do that which is beautifully described here.
