Explain Gardner's theory of multiple intelligence.

Gardner has suggested eight type of intelligence but all the individuals do not possess all type of intelligence in equal amount. The eight type of intelligence suggested by Gardner as follow : 
(1) Linguistic Intelligence : Linguistic intelligence is used for tasks like speaking, listening, reading, writing and understanding the complexity of language. We find this type of intelligence in writers, literary figures, salesmen, editors of newspapers and magazines and announcers. 
(2) Logical Mathematical Intelligence : This type of intelligence includes reasoning and arguments, use of signals and symbols and in computational work. Logicians, advocates, judges, detectives, scientists, statisticians and accountants possess higher level of logical and mathematical intelligence. 
(3) Spatial intelligence : This type of intelligence is used in forming, modifying and using mental images. It is also used in making movements in three dimensions of space. Drivers of train and automobiles, navigators of ship, pilots, engineers, architects, sculptors, painters, surgeons etc. possess higher level of spatial intelligence. 
(4) Bodily - Kinesthetic intelligence : This type of intelligence is required for making simultaneous and compatible movements of hands, feet, head, fingers,torso etc. and for developing their dexterity. Therefore it is essential for professionals like sportsmen, craftsmen, surgeons, dancers, actors etc. 
(5) Interpersonal intelligence : This type of intelligence helps in understanding the nature, habits, likes, dislikes, attitude, feelings, emotions, motives and personality of other people. So, professionals like teachers, trainers, salesmen, politicians, social workers, priests etc. possess it in a greater amount. 
(6) Musical intelligence: This intelligence is needed in identifying and discovering the volume, pitch andspecial tones of various singers or musical instruments. So, singers, players of musical instruments, music composers, conductors, directors and appreciators of music possess this kind of intelligence to a greater degree. 
(7) Intrapersonal intelligence : We can use this intelligence for self-understanding about feelings, emotions, aptitudes, attitudes, prejudices, beliefs etc. It is useful for the development of self-insight and self-actualization. 
(8) Naturalistic intelligence : This intelligence helps to understand various natural objects, animal species, plants and trees and the variety of natural phenomena. People like - farmers, breeders, animal keepers, hunters, adventurers, jungle – travellers, forest personnel, students of botany and zoology possess this kind of intelligence in greater amount.
