Explain the employee selection method.

  • Employee selection in the organization is done through work analysis method.
  • There are four methods in total.
(1) Application Form (2) Written Test (3) Visit (4) Authorization Test on the sample
(1) Application Form:
  • People are usually invited to apply through newspapers, advertisements or other means.
  • The present age has seen an arrangement to apply online.
  • The application form has to show details of name, address, caste, age, contact number, email address, educational qualification, experience, special experience etc.
  • It is analyzed and interpreted from the application of individuals.
  • Further action is then taken for his selection.
(2) Visits:
  • An interview is a direct conversation between two or more people.
  • Interviews for employee selection are very prevalent.
  • It is important that evaluators, experts, experienced and impartial decision makers.
  • There are two types of visits. (1) composed and (2) unpacked.
  • In which mostly structured visits are used.
  • Interviews are often influenced by factors such as lack of alignment, prejudice, contradictions, superficial symptoms, and so on.
  • So often an employee is selected unanimously by more than one evaluator.
(3) Written Test:
  • Written test is taken in the present age to evaluate it from the information received through the application form.
  • These include intelligence, logic, attitude, creative power, aptitude, general knowledge, devotion to work, ethics, language, etc.
  • This written test is considered to be more appropriate if it is honest, high standard, accurate and reliable.
  • Individuals are selected based on a written test.
(4) Sample Authorization Test:
  • The aptitude test above the sample means adopt a specific approach to analyze the person.
  • There are two main types. (A) Work Demonstration (B) Assessment Centers
(A) Work demonstration:
  • This approach shapes the situation in which the person is to perform the task.
  • In it the person is assigned a task and his work is observed and re-evaluated.
  • E.g. If a clerk is to be recruited in an office, certain candidates are selected and they are given the job of clerk.
  • For example, typing, creating a project in a computer, preparing an account sheet for anything.
  • Filing of papers etc. is done.
  • It evaluates the error of their typing work, time taken, language and project work.
  • The person is selected on the basis of multiplication.
(B) Evaluation:
  • Evaluation centers are useful in the selection of managers.
  • In which trained psychologists operate assessment centers.
  • In which the actual situation is created for the candidate, various tasks, discussions, playing games, making decisions, assigning leadership, etc. are evaluated.
  • Attempts are made to develop the candidate's ability, decision power, management power and spirit of cooperation.
