$=\left(\frac{-2+8}{2}, \frac{6+2}{2}\right)$

$=\left(\frac{6}{2}, \frac{8}{2}\right)$

$=(3,4)$

$\therefore$ Coordinates of midpoint of segment joining $(-2,6)$ and $(8,2)$ are $(3,4)$.
