$(\vec{x}-\vec{a}) \cdot(\vec{x}+\vec{a})=12$
$\Rightarrow \vec{\mathrm{x}} \cdot \vec{\mathrm{x}}+\vec{\mathrm{x}} \cdot \vec{\mathrm{a}}-\vec{\mathrm{a}} \cdot \vec{\mathrm{x}}-\vec{\mathrm{a}} \cdot \vec{\mathrm{a}}=12$
