Find the sum:
$3\frac{4}{5}+2\frac{13}{10}+1\frac{1}{15}$

Answer

$3\frac{4}{5}+2\frac{13}{10}+1\frac{1}{15}$
$=\frac{19}{5}+\frac{23}{10}+\frac{16}{15}$
LCM of 5, 10, 15 = 30
$\therefore\frac{19}{5}=\frac{15\times6}{5\times6}=\frac{114}{30}$
$\frac{23}{10}=\frac{23\times3}{10\times3}=\frac{69}{30}$
$\frac{16}{15}=\frac{16\times2}{15\times2}=\frac{32}{30}$
$\therefore=\frac{19}{5}+\frac{23}{10}+\frac{16}{15}$
$=\frac{114}{30}+\frac{69}{30}+\frac{32}{30}$
$=\frac{114+69+32}{30}=\frac{215}{30}$
$=\frac{215\div5}{30\div5}=\dfrac{43}{6}7\frac{1}{6}$
