$pqa = (3p + q)^2- (3p - q)^2$
$pqa = [(3p + q) + (3p - q)][(3p + q) - (3p - q)]$
$pqa = [(3p + q + 3p - q)][(3p + q - 3p + q)$
$\text{a}=\frac{6\text{p}\times2\text{q}}{\text{pq}}$
$=\frac{(6\times2)\text{pq}}{\text{pq}}$
$a = 12$
