Give meaning to the organization and explain its features.

An organization is a logical coordination of the efforts and activities made by an individual or a group.
It aims to achieve some equally defined goals through a series of divisions of labor, division of labor, division of power, rights and responsibilities.
An organization is a social unit consisting of two or more individuals and is constantly working towards achieving the same goal or objectives.- Robbins
E.g. School, bank, railway, police etc.
Features:
(1) Same goal:
Each organization has its own set of goals.
Everyone works together to achieve this.
Everyone strives to achieve the goals of the organization even though their work is different.
E.g. The bank handles everyone's financial transactions.
(2) Coordinating effort:
In order to achieve the goal of the organization, its work is coordinated among the employees of the organization.
E.g. In order to send a speed post, a person at the post office accepts the letter at the counter, weighs it and affixes a sticker.
