The hero Jimutvahan and the heroine Malayvati have fallen in love with each-other. The hero, his friend (the clown), the heroine and her friend Cheti are sitting between the row of Tamal tree. At this time, the hero describes the heroine's face which has turned red due to the heat of sharad season. Hearing this, the clowns says I am also handsome - but nobody describes me due to jealousy.
Then Cheti tells him that she will describe him. Hearing this, the clown became happy and stands with closed eyes as instructed by Cheti. So that Cheti can describe him.
There is pun in Cheti's statement. The meaning of 'वर्णयामि' is - I describe (you) but the another meaning is - I paint (you). Considering the first meaning, the clown became happy. But according to the second meaning, Cheti blackens the clown's face with the Juice of Tamal tree buds. This is how Cheti cheats the clown according to the second meaning of 'वर्णयामि'. As the clown does not know the meaning of the word 'वर्णयामि', he is cheated by Cheti. This incident causes laughter.
