(A holy - fire performed with new grains.) This one type of holy-fire. This holy-fire rite is performed to offer the new crop/grains to God before using it for oneself. नवसस्यस्य निमित्ता इष्टिः नवसस्येष्टिः। There is a custom of performing two such holy - fires, out of that one in Sharad and the other in 'Vasant rutu' (spring) The Holy fire of this type perfomed in 'Sharad rutu' is known as Shardiyanavsasyeshti' शारदीयनवस्येष्टिः This festival is now celebrated as the festival of lights- Deepawali. The Navsasyeshtis performed during spring is known as 'Vasantikanvsasyeshti' वासन्तिकनवसस्येष्टिः This festival we celebrate as the festival of Holi.
