State : (a) Stefan - Baltzmann law radiation. (b) Wien's displacement law
✓
Answer
(a)Stefan - Baltzmann law radiation.
The Stefan Boltzmann law describes the power radiated (R) from a black body in terms of its temperature (T). According to the Stefan Boltzmann law, “The rate of emission of radiant energy per unit area or the power radiated per unit area of a perfect blackbody is directly proportional to the fourth power of its absolute temperature”.
\(R=\sigma T^4\),
where σ is Stefan’s constant and is equal to $5.67 \times 10^{-8} W/m^{-2} K^{-4}.$
(b)Wien's displacement law
According to Wein's displacement law, as the temperature of a black body rises, the peak of the distribution curve shifts towards the shorter wavelength (λ).
Thus, \(\lambda_{ m } T = b\), a (constant)
where \(b =2.898 \times 10^{-3} mK\).
