Question
State the benefits of the visitation technique.
✓
Answer
The benefits of the interview technique are as follows:
$(1)$ Misinterpretation and vague answers of the respondent can be removed immediately.
$(2)$ The researcher has the freedom to change and repeat the questions.
$(3)$ Having direct contact between the researcher and the respondent provides reliable and accurate information.
$(4)$ The views and opinions of the respondent are known.
$(5)$ This method is useful for both educated and uneducated respondents.
It contains the literal and mental responses of the respondent.
The disadvantages of this approach are:
$(1)$ This method is economically expensive as well as more time consuming.
$(2)$ Personal opinions or values of the researcher make the information biased.
$(3)$ The status and reputation of the visitor is affected by the informant.
$(4)$ Many interviews are so short that they cannot provide enough information about the respondent.
Thus, despite some limitations of the interview technique, it has proved to be more useful than other techniques as it provides more and more accurate information.
