The Parliament of our country (nation) is located in Delhi. It is the supreme democratic institution India. The Parliament of India consists of the President and the two houses. The Lower House the Parliament is known as the Lok Sabha and the Upper House is known as the Rajya Sabha.The Parliament functions in accordance with the guidelines given in the Constitution. Different committees are formed for these functions. The main function of the Parliament is to form new laws, to amend or repel the existing laws. No bill can be a law without the approval of the Parliament. Through the budget, the Parliament exercises control over the expenditure made by the executive system. The Members of the Parliament discuss the government policies in the Parliament. debates make the government conscious about its mistakes and shortcomings. In addition, these debates also make the whole nation aware of government policies.
An ordinance issued by the President requires the approval of Parliament as soon as possible. If Parliament does not approve if, the ordinance is automatically cancelled.
