वृक्षहीनं गृहं शून्यं पुत्रहीनं कुलं तथा।
Answer
Translation : A house is worthless without a son so it is without a tree. The above line is the second line of the 8th shloka of the poem "विना वृक्षं गृहं शून्यम्" The meaning of this line is Both a tree and a son - always do welfare. A house is worthless without a son. Similarly it is considered worthless without having a tree in its courtyard inspite of having wealth and material happiness. A family possessing wealth, plenty of foodgrains, garments and ornaments and the things that provide material happiness but if it does not have a son, the existence of all these things is meaningless. Such a family is considered worthless. Similarly, a house possessing wealth and things that give material happiness is considered worthless when there is no tree in it's courtyard.

एतेषां सर्ववृक्षाणाम् उच्छेदं न तु कारयेत्।
Answer
Translation :All these trees should not be destroyed. The poem "विना वृक्षं गृहं शून्यम्" has been taken from 184th chapter of Shantiparva of the Mahabharat. It is said in the first line of 7th shloka of this poem that all these trees should not be destroyed. A tree too has life as all living creatures do. A human being obtains different type of knowledge with the help of different sense organs and then acts accordingly. Similarly a tree does like this. A tree and a son always do welfare. A house without having tree in its courtyard should be considered worthless so every person should plant trees and bring them up. Trees should not be cut down or destroyed.

Answer
Translation :That which drinks water with its leg is tree.
This shloka has been taken from 184th chapter of Shantiparva of Mahabharata composed by Maharshi Ved Vyas. There is a dialogue between Bharjwaj and Bhrugu, in which it is said that - that which drinks water with legs is called 'पादपः' (tree). A tree nourishes its different parts with its legs (roots). A tree also has a system of carrying water and food to its different parts through its roots. Thus Acharya Bhrugu proves that a tree is also a living creature and drinks water with its legs.

Answer
Translation :Therefore trees smell with flowers. There is a dialogue between Bhardwaj and Bhrugu in 184th chapter of Shantiparva of the Mahabharat composed by Maharshi Vedvyas. This dialogue of Shantiparva contains detailed explanation of fire elements. This explanation says that a tree has life.
The fourth line of the second shloka of this poem is "विना वृक्षं गृहं शून्यम्।" The meaning of this shloka is "The trees which are grown with good or bad deeds and bearing different type of fragrant flowers remain healthy or diseasefree. Thus, trees smell with the help of flowers.
