Question 15 Marks
Locate the points $A(1,2), B(4,2)$ and $C(1,4)$ on a graph sheet taking suitable axes. Write the coordinates of the fourth point Dto complete the rectangle $A B C D$
Answer
Given, points are $A(1,2), B(4,2)$ and $C(1,4)$.
Location of given points on the graph given below.
Image
To complete the rectangle $A B C D$, the coordinate of the fourth point $D$ is $(4,4)$, i.e. $D(4,4)$ locate points on the graph yourself.

Question 25 Marks
Study the distance-time graph given below for a car to travel to certain places and answer the questions that follow.
(i) How far does the car travel in 2 h ?
(ii) How much time does the car take to reach $R$ ?
(iii) How long does the car take to cover 80 km ?
(iv) How far is Qfrom the starting point?
(v) When does the car reach the place Safter starting?
Image
Answer
(i) From the given graph, the car travel in 2 h is 80 km .
(ii) 5 h taken by car to reach $R$.
(iii) 2 h taken by car to cover 80 km .
(iv) $Q$ is 120 km far from starting point.
(v) The car reach the place $S$ after starting in $6 h$, So, in this period, car travel 240 km.

Question 35 Marks
Study the graph and answer the questions that follow
(i) What information does the graph give?
(ii) On which day was the temperature least?
(iii) On which day was the temperature $31^{\circ} C$ ?
(iv) Which was the hottest day?
Image
Answer
(i) The information obtained from the given graph is that the maximum temperature is $34^{\circ} C$ and minimum temperature is $25^{\circ} C$ in a week.
(ii) On Sunday, the temperature was $25^{\circ} C$. So, it is least temperature in the week.
(iii) On Saturday, the temperature was $31^{\circ} C$.
(iv) On Friday, the temperature was $34^{\circ} C$.
Hence, it is the hottest day of the week.

Question 45 Marks
Study the given graphs (i) and (ii) and complete the corresponding tables below.
Image
(i)
$x$0123
$y$
(ii)
$x$01234
$y$
Answer
Graph (i) shows $x=y$
If $x=0$, then $y=0$, If $x=1$, then $y=1$
If $x=2$, then $y=2$, If $x=3$, then $y=3$
$x$0123
$y$0123
Graph (ii) shows that $y=2 x+2$, because
If $x=0$, then $y=2$, If $x=1$, then $y=4$
If $x=2$, then $y=6$, If $x=3$ then $y=8$
and If $x=4$, then $y=10$
$x$01234
$y$246810

Question 65 Marks
Draw a graph for the radius and circumference of circle using a suitable scale.
[Hints Take radius = 7,14 and 21 units and so on]
From the graph,
(i) Find the circumference of the circle when radius is 42 units.
(ii) At what radius will the circumference of the circle be 220 units?
Answer
If radius is 7 units, then circumference of the circle
$
=2 \times \pi \times 7=2 \times \frac{22}{7} \times 7=2 \times 22=44 \text { units }
$
$[\because$ circumference of a circle] $=2 \pi r$
If radius is 14 units, then circumference
$
=2 \times \pi \times 14=28 \times \frac{22}{7}=4 \times 22=88 \text { units }
$
If radius is 21 units, then circumference
$
=2 \times \pi \times 21=42 \times \frac{22}{7}=132 \text { units }
$
If radius is 28 units, then circumference
$
=2 \times \pi \times 28=56 \times \frac{22}{7}=22 \times 8=176 \text { units }
$
If radius is 35 units, then circumference
$
=2 \times \pi \times 35=70 \times \frac{22}{7}=220 \text { units }
$
If radius is 42 units, then circumference
$
=2 \times \pi \times 42=84 \times \frac{22}{7}=12 \times 22=264 \text { units }
$
Table for the graph,
Radius of circle71421283542
Circumference of circle4488132176220264
