Question 12 Marks
Find the capacity of water tank, in litres, whose dimensions are $4.2\ m$, $3\ m$ and $1.8\ m$?
Answer
Dimensions of the water tank are $4.2m, 3m$ and $1.8m$.
Capacity of water tank = Length $\times $ Breadth $\times $ Height
$= 4.2 \times 3 \times 1.8$
$= 22.68m^3$
$\therefore$ Capacity of the water tank in litres $= 22.68 × 1000 = 22680L [$ $\because$$1m^3= 1000L]$

Question 22 Marks
Work out the surface area of following shape (use $\pi$ = $3.14$).
Answer
In the given figure, there are two cuboides are joined.
$\therefore$ Total surface area of the given solid
$= 2(24 \times 12 + 12 \times 12 + 12 \times 24) +2(12 \times 12 + 12 \times 12 + 12 \times 12) - 2(12 \times 12)$
$= 1440 + 864 - 288$
$= 2016cm^2$

Question 32 Marks
Work out the surface area of following shape (use $\pi$ $= 3.14$).
Answer
Surface area of the figure
$= 2[3 \times 1 + 1 \times 1 + 3 \times 1] + 2[4 \times 1 + 1 \times 1 + 4 \times 1] - [1 \times 1 + 1 \times 1]$
$= 2[3 + 1 + 3] + 2[4 + 1 + 4] - [1 + 1]$
$= 2[7] + 2[9] - [2] = 14 + 18 - 2$
$= 32 - 2$
$= 30cm^2$

Question 42 Marks
How many cubes each of side $0.5\ cm$ are required to build a cube of volume $8cm^3$?
Answer
Volume of a cube $= (Side)^3$
$\because$ Side of cube $= 0.5cm$
$\therefore$ Volume of the cube $= (0.5)^3= 0.125cm^3$
The number of cubes required to make volume of $8cm^3$ cubo
$=\frac{8}{0.125}$
$=\frac{8000}{125}=64\text{cubes}$
