In this line, while describing the qualities of the best elephant, the poet has mentioned the activities of two type of people in the society. There are people having qualities similar to dog. We all know that a dog is always helpless and is deprived of affection and care.
There are another type of people. They are sincere and have self-respect like an elephant. A dog wags its tail in from of the giver of the food. While the best elephant sees impassively to the giver of the food and eats food with the excessive affection. Thus, a person should not be helpless like a dog. He should live with self-respect like an elephant.
