"Psychophysical diseases means those physical bodily problems because of psychological conditions."........ In present time, many people become victim of heart ailment, blood pressure, asthama, diabetes, ulcer, brain stroke etc.
(a) Heart related problems and blood pressure: Heart beat of a healthy person is 70 to 75 per minute in normal situation and blood pressure remains 120/80. But during stress, blood gets thickened and veins get contracted, so there is problem of blood flow. In this situation, the heart has to put extra efforts to increase the supply of blood to different parts of the body. According to a study, it is estimated that 50% of chances of heart problems increase due to stress.
(b) Asthma : External and internal factors of the body are responsible for asthama. Stress is the internal factor for asthama. According to a study, the children who suffer from asthma have their root in emotional attachments and upbringing. If the family members and parents are given training for dealing with stress .The attack of asthama can be brought under control. If the patients of asthama are given training to deal with stressful situation, the effect of asthama can be reduced.
(c) Diabetes : Generally, type 2 diabetes is related with stress and it is having negative effect upon the Health of the individual. In diabetes, due to stress the pancreas does not produce enough insulin so the glucose in the body is not maintained. This type of diabetes can be controlled, if the stress is reduced.
(d) Stomach ulcer : The level of acid increases in the digestive track when there is increase in the stress level. In such situation, when the individual does not take proper diet, the walls of stomach gets infected with ulcer. People working on higher post with lot of work pressure and stress, usually develope such kind of ulcer.
(e) Brain stroke : When the flow of blood to a portion of the brain is blocked, a stroke occurs. When the brain does not get required amount of oxygen, it causes damage to the cells of the brain. The symptoms of stroke are trouble with speaking and understanding, paralysis or numbness of the face, arm or leg, trouble in seeing in one or both eyes, headache, trouble with walking etc.
