A Heart-warming Rescue

            Kalyan, 15 January: In a truly heart-warming operation, a pigeon entangled in the sharp string of a kite was rescued by a group of bird lovers here, yesterday.
            The pigeon had somehow got entangled in the string and had fallen to the ground. It was making strange, troubled noises when a group of four young boys saw it in their garden. They quickly brought some water and put a few drops on its beak. Then, getting a pair of scissors, they cut through the 'manjha', all the while holding the bird to prevent it from fluttering and making things worse. Luckily, it was not as bad as they expected and the bird was soon free.
           "What is fun for us humans, is death for these birds," said Rohan Kulkarni, one of the rescue group members. "Why don't we realize that as human beings we must protect these innocent creatures? Are a few moments of pleasure worth all the pain caused to some other living being?"
           It is with pride that this reporter adds that he too was part of the rescue group. And yes, it felt really wonderful to see the pigeon finally soar Into the sky!
