Question
हंसा महीमण्डलमण्डनानि।

Answer

Meaning: Swans add to the beauty of the earth.
Reference: This shloka from 'काव्यमधुबिन्दवः' says that swans are the ornaments of the earth. The third verse contains Muktak with Anyokti. Under the pretext of swans, qualities of scholars and virtuous people have been eulogised in this shloka. In this shloka, something unmanifested is described through what is manifested. The swan is a menifested object. Where ever it is, it adds to the beauty of the earth. But when it leaves the lake, the beauty of the lake gets tarnished. Thus, through the manifested swan, the poet has described the importance of unmanifested scholars, artists and virtuous people.
