Just as a black bee acquires nectar from flowers, in the similar manner, an intelligent person acquires knowledge from his guru.
Explanation: This line has been taken from the poetry 'सन्ति मे गुरवो राजन्' According to Avdhutakhyan in Bhagwata, Guru Dattatreya acquired knowledge from 24 gurus, the black big bee is one of them.
Dattatreya believes that to be an excellent person, getting knowledge only from one guru if not sufficient. Knowledge can be acquired from non-living substances, birds and animals and all living beings.
A big black bee is also a guru. It absorbs nectar/ essence from flowers. In the similar manner, an intelligent person absorbs essence / knowledge from big scripture. It is the nature of big black bee to cut the wood but it never breaks or cuts the tender flower because the flower provides him nectar. Similarly, an intelligent person absorbs essence of knowledge by studying various scriptures, then give this knowledge to people for their betterment. Thus, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Dattatreya advises to acquire knowledge from different gurus.
