Question
What is the change in momentum between the initial and final points of the projectile path, if the range is maximum?

Answer

Range is maximum. Therefore, the angle of projection is 45°. Since, the initial velocity, horizontally remains same throughout, there is no change in momentum in the horizontal. The vertical velocity of $\text{u}\sin45^\circ$ will be equal in magnitude but opposite in direction at these points.$\therefore$ Change in momentum $=2\text{mu}\sin45^{\circ}=\frac{2\text{mu}}{\sqrt{2}}=\sqrt{2}\text{mu}$

Just as precise measurements are necessary in science, it is equally important to be able to make rough estimates of quantities using rudimentary ideas and common observations. Think of ways by which you can estimate the following (where an estimate is difficult to obtain, try to get an upper bound on the quantity): The total mass of rain-bearing clouds over India during the Monsoon.
