Main differnces between conventional energy sources and non- conventional energy sources are as follows:
Metallic Minerals Non-Metallic Minerals
$1.$ Metals are in the raw form i.e. ore in metallic minerals. Metals are obtained by melting the ore. e.g., gold, silver. zinc, copper, bauxite, iron, etc. $1.$ In non-metallic minerals, there are no metals. It has minerals which are used as power resources e.g., coal and petroleum. They also contain limestone, mica and gypsum.
$2.$ Metals can be moulded into different shapes by hammering or melting them. $2.$ Some non-metallic minerals can be moulded into different shapes by cutting, uprooting or breaking them.
$3.$ Metals obtained from the metallic minerals do not break even after striking them. $3.$ Some non-metallic minerals are broken into pieces due to striking.
$4.$ Metallic minerals are obtained from the large reserves of igneous and metamorphic rocks. $4.$ Non-metallic minerals are found in plains and in the regions of sedimentary (stratified) rocks of fold mountains.
